Day 69: Victoria Spring Stars

When I first moved to Sydney in the 1990s, one of my favourite jewellery shops was Victoria Spring on Oxford Street. Her earrings are handcrafted with a vintage vibe. Over the years I bought pairs for myself, bought pairs as gifts, and I also received Victoria Spring creations as gifts from Robbie.

The earrings I'm wearing today fit into the first category. I love these little clear crystal stars surrounded by specks of blue.

I bought them around the time Rob and I got together and wore them all the time.

They've sat in the bottom of jewellery box for ages because they are a bit worse for wear with many of the tiny blue crystals falling out, but I still love them. Some time ago I did have it mind to take the earrings in to the shop and have the crystals replaced but by then the shop had closed. Writing this blog I was inspired to check if Victoria is still out there somewhere, and so she is...living in Byron Bay no less, still making jewellery and selling online. I'm excited now; I'm going to contact her and see if she can do the repairs to these old faves.

Like these earrings, I'm worse for wear today - this docetaxel is tough going. I don't think it's necessarily harsher than the FEC, just different, with aches and pains all over and a general flu-like heaviness. The tongue ulcers are back but I'm hoping they'll respond equally well this time to the magic of coconut oil.

As a result, day 69 has been another very quiet one. A brunch with James and his mate after their marathon week on the musical was followed by a lovely visit from Paulie, Geets, and Chewy Jnr! Geets bought me a gorgeous new pair of earrings...I think I'm going to make my 128 days! A walk around the park followed an afternoon nap.

My achievement for the day was that I got the latest jigsaw out...just about... there's one missing piece..."Molly...!"
