Day 53 was full of lovely things. First, a visit from Andy, who came to deliver not one but two stunning pairs of earrings to mark the half way point - to be displayed soon. We had a lovely time catching up but we didn't touch the work we planned to get done. But, as dear Vivien reminded me in an email this week, what I am doing by focussing on friendships and family IS the important stuff, that often gets lost in what she aptly calls the 'juggle-athon'.
Cazy arrived just in time to catch Andy briefly, before Dad and Margie literally blew in the door given the strong wind, back from a fabulous exploration of Tasmania. They too bought me a beautiful pair of earrings made from a unique Tasmanian stone. I also received a lovely card from Jenny and Kev, part of the Chappell Clan, and a special text from Mum's sister Margie. I'm overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness of everyone sending me such gorgeous gifts, cards and messages of support. Focussing in on something so small, delicate and pretty as earrings, and on the wonderful people who they link me to, is definitely proving to be a tonic during this challenging period.
Dad, Margie, Rob and I enjoyed catching up over lunch before I headed home for what I planned as a nap but turned into a deep 3 hour sleep! It gave me energy to put the final touches on the Rose and my paper before and after dinner, and hopefully the stamina to push on with the final challenging stages of the jigsaw tonight.
Today I chose to wear the lovely marquisette cushions earrings of an art deco design that Cazy gave me as a birthday gift about 10 years ago. These are one of those pairs that for no reason slipped to the bottom drawer of the jewellery box and haven't been on rotation for a long time. Wearing them today I was reminded how pretty they are and how lovely to wear and will make sure they get a regular outing from now on!
